33 years old - La Forêt Fouesnant - FRANCE

Born in a family of navigators, Nicolas swam in the big pot of sailing when a toddler. “As soon as I was three, I was aboard my parents’ boat. Weekends and holidays were spent sailing around the Golfe du Morbihan and the bay of Quiberon. And then, one day, I felt the urge to sail and see a bit further”. Regattas followed each other in quick succession with successes in the Tour de France sailing, the races of the RORC and Nicolas turns up naturally on the Solitaire du Figaro in 2007 with a victory in the Rookies classification.

Plodding, in a noble way, training with the “Pôle Course au large” of Port La  Forêt, the little prince – as some name him – learns quickly. The year 2009 will remain as the key point of the beginning of his career. Only 26 years old, and for its third participation, Nicolas wins the “Solitaire du Figaro” competing against exceptional yachtsmen. All along the race, he sails in the lead, ahead of Michel Desjoyeaux, Armel Le Cleac’h, Yann Eliès, Jérémie Beyou, and all the other stars of the circuit.

The Breton yachtman also opens up to the International by taking part twice in the Rolex Sydney-Hobart, ranking second in 2012. All these facets must have charmed the Spanish olympic champions Iker Martinez and Xabi Fernandez who call for Nicolas to take part in the Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 as navigator.
